I höst öppnar Dansmuseet en ny utställning, tillägnad det djärva och hyllade danskompaniet Svenska Baletten som grundades för exakt 100 år sedan. Welma träffade museets intendent Erik Mattsson för att få veta mer om kompaniet, om utställningen och jubileumet. Tips.

The Royal Swedish Ballet, one of the oldest ballet companies in the world, has a strong foundation in the classical repertoire as well as a capacity for and curiosity in contemporary dance. With a repertoire including ballets by some of the world’s most renowned choreographers we actively commission works by, among others, Swedish choreographers such as Mats Ek and Alexander Ekman.

The audition must contain a short ballet class, approximately 15 minutes. It must include a 5 minute barre, one side only, pliés, tendus and jetés, an adage and grand battements. Centre practice tendus and jetés with pirouettés en dedans and en dehors right and left both sides, adage, petit allegro with batterie, a grand allegro, a pointe work enchaînement and a classical variation.
